Synergy CEO, David Fyfe, will step down from the position, effective from April 2025.
Synergy Board Chair, Michelle Shepherd, said Mr Fyfe has been a committed and focused leader of Synergy, reshaping the organisation to deliver on the closure of coal-fired power stations and a pipeline of renewable energy and energy storage projects by 2030.
“On behalf of the board I’d like to thank David for his service to Synergy over the past four and a half years and three years as CEO. He has left the organisation well positioned for the future.
“We wish him the very best for the future as he pursues exciting new opportunities,” Ms Shepherd said.
Mr Fyfe joined Synergy in late 2020 as General Manager Commercial and was appointed as CEO in early 2022.
The Synergy board has appointed Kurt Baker as Acting Chief Executive Officer while a board-led recruitment process is completed.
Mr Baker currently holds the position of Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Executive General Manager (EGM) Future Energy. Mr Baker has more than 30 years’ experience in the Western Australian electricity industry, in roles spanning operations and maintenance, project development, wholesale markets, business development and strategy.
On a LinkedIn post on 21 January, Synergy said that Mr Fyfe has always led with a people first approach, and that his approachability, sense of humour and love of Pepsi Max will be missed.
