Powerlink has requested community feedback on its newly released transmission corridor as part of the grid connection for the Theodore Wind Farm.
It is expected that the 55km 275kV transmission line will connect the wind farm to a proposed new substation at Mount Benn, near Banana.
The proposed corridor follows desktop analysis and investigations into route options based on landholder, environmental and constructability inputs completed by the wind farm owners, RWE Renewables Australia.
Powerlink said it is now building on the work already completed by RWE.
Feedback is encouraged from the community on the proposed corridor with the following information sessions to be held in November 2024:
- 14 November – Biloela Civic Centre, between 3.30–6.30pm
- 15 November – Theodore Memorial RSL Hall, between 3.30–6.30pm
- 16 November – Sutherland Hall at Banana, between 10am–2pm
Powerlink said the final corridor will be selected following additional field studies and feedback from the community, landholders and Traditional Owner groups.
A Powerlink spokesperson said, “Communities and landholders are an essential part of transmission corridor planning, and we encourage people to have their say.
“Central Queensland is rich in renewable energy sources. We are committed to constructing these connections in a coordinated way that is cost effective with the least impact to communities and the environment.
“We look forward to building on the work RWE has already done as we connect Theodore Wind Farm to the grid.”
Feedback can be given at the community information sessions, by emailing theodore@powerlink.com.au or calling 07 3898 4919.
