Australian electrical engineering manufacturer NOJA Power has been named Queensland Exporter of the Year after also winning the Sustainability and Green Economy Category at Queensland’s Export Awards 2024.

Exporting since 2002, NOJA Power is based at Murarrie and designs, manufactures and sells switching equipment to protect and control the electricity distribution grid.

NOJA Power’s Queensland-made products are used to safely and efficiently operate electricity networks in 106 countries.

Queensland Premier, Steven Miles, and Deputy Premier, Treasurer and Minister for Trade and Investment, Cameron Dick, announced the winners at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre on 4 September 2024.

The Export Awards recognise Queensland businesses for their innovation, resilience and determination as they strive to grow and expand their global footprint.

Queensland was the first state in Australia to introduce a First Nations category in 2023 and continues to recognise Women in International Business in a dedicated category.

Sobah Beverages, maker of non-alcoholic craft beer, took out the First Nations category while Dr Tracey Seipel, CEO, Seipel Group was awarded the Women in International Business category.

The 13 national category winners – including NOJA Power – will represent Queensland at the Australian Export Awards, hosted by Austrade, on 20 November 2024 in Canberra.

Mr Miles said that the Queensland Export Awards are an acknowledgement of every single business and exporter’s hard work in putting Queensland on the world stage.

“Exports are the engine of this economy. We are a trading state,” Mr Miles said.

“A big congratulations to NOJA Power for being named Queensland Exporter of the Year – the company truly represents all that is impressive about our exporters and about Queenslanders doing business around the world.

“From a small start but with global ambitions the founders now export to more than 100 countries and employ more than 300 staff.

“All from scratch. It’s an amazing story we should all celebrate.”

Mr Dick said, “Exports are the engine room of the Queensland economy and it’s companies like NOJA Power that keep it humming.

Mr Dick said that NOJA Power is not only an innovator and ambitious, but the company is also firmly focused on minimising its environmental footprint and ensuring its sustainability.

“And all from a start in Murarrie.”

Trade and Investment Queensland CEO, Justin McGowan, congratulated NOJA Power on the win.

“NOJA Power has overcome a variety of exporting challenges in its 22 years of business and grown to become the supplier of choice for electricity companies around the world.

“NOJA Power is a true Queensland export success story and will be hard to beat for the National Award.”
