In a move that marks a significant step toward complete solar independence, Fronius Australia has a new high-performance battery storage system designed to meet the demands of Australian households and small businesses.
With this addition of its Reserva battery, Fronius closes the loop on its vision of providing a full solar energy system from a single, trusted source, delivering inverter, battery and monitoring all under one roof.
Known for its long-standing commitment to sustainability and solar innovation, Fronius has continuously championed its “24 hours of sun” philosophy – the idea of a world powered entirely by renewable energy.
The company said that the launch of the Reserva battery represents a crucial piece in that puzzle. It gives homeowners the power to store their self-generated energy efficiently, use it around the clock, and reduce their dependency on the grid, all while simplifying system design and management.
Fronius Managing Director of Australia, Roland Resch, said that until now, Fronius customers had to rely on third-party storage providers. With the Reserva, the company now offers a complete solution that is perfectly matched across all components.
“The biggest benefit for the customer is that we now have all the components for a complete end-to-end system,” he said.
“All elements are optimally coordinated, and only one app is needed for full energy management. This doesn’t just streamline the experience; it also simplifies service and support. Customers no longer need to deal with multiple manufacturers; one contact is enough.”
Simpler, smarter, more efficient
Technically speaking, the Fronius Reserva is a high-voltage, DC-coupled battery built to ensure minimal conversion losses. It is available in storage sizes from 6.3kWh to 15.8kWh and can be scaled up to 63kWh by connecting up to four battery towers in parallel. This makes it suitable for a wide range of applications, from small family homes to businesses with larger energy requirements.
The Fronius Reserva has been designed to work hand-in-hand with the Fronius Primo GEN24 Plus (single-phase), Fronius Symo GEN24 Plus (three-phase) and the upcoming Verto Plus hybrid inverters – meaning effortless integration into existing or new PV systems.
Installation is also more straightforward than ever. The modular battery design allows for easy stacking of modules – much like building blocks – with no complex wiring involved. The sleek 17.6cm thin housing is ideal for tight garages or for installations in a shed. With an IP65 rating and an operating temperature range of –20 to +55C, the Reserva is equipped to withstand Australia’s often extreme climate conditions, from the coastal humidity of Queensland to the dry heat of Western New South Wales and Western Australia.
Beyond storage capacity and durability, ease of use has clearly been front of mind. Like all Fronius solutions, the Reserva is fully integrated into the existing Solar.web platform eliminating the need for separate apps or portals. The status display of the Fronius Reserva also shows the current charge level visually via an LED display directly on the battery.
Resilience and safety where it counts most
Fronius said that for many Australian households, one of the most valuable features is the battery’s full backup power and black start capability.
This means the system can continue charging and discharging even during a blackout, a vital function in regions where grid reliability is inconsistent or where resilience is a growing priority.
“We want our customers to be able to rely on their system not only for sustainability and savings but also for energy security,” Mr Resch said.
Fronius has also put a strong emphasis on safety and sustainability in the battery’s design. The Reserva uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells, a safe, cobalt-free battery chemistry known for its thermal stability, long lifespan and low maintenance needs. It is a conscious decision that aligns with the company’s broader sustainability standards.
Security of customer data is another topic where Fronius does not compromise. All user data from the Solar.web platform is hosted on secure European servers under strict GDPR compliance. Regular security audits and internal training for software developers are part of standard operating procedures.
“We believe in transparency, and that also means protecting data with the same seriousness that we apply to our hardware,” Mr Resch said.
Australia is one of the most advanced solar markets in the world, and battery uptake is rapidly increasing as users seek to maximise their solar investments and take control of their energy use.
In launching the Reserva, Fronius’ goal is position itself not only as a technology provider but as a comprehensive energy partner for Australians, one that understands the local market and backs its systems with robust local service and support.
As a company with more than 80 years of experience and a strong presence in Australia with more than 3.7GW of inverter output already installed, Fronius delivers both global expertise and local trust. The Reserva completes its offering, giving installers and homeowners alike a cohesive and reliable system, powered by one brand from start to finish.

The heart of every solar system
The inverter is the control centre of any solar setup. It converts the sun’s direct current (DC) into usable alternating current (AC) and manages how that energy is distributed, whether it’s powering your home, charging your battery, or feeding back to the grid.
That’s why having a perfectly matched inverter and battery from Fronius makes all the difference – for system performance, longevity and energy savings.
