The Energy Efficiency Council announced the appointment a new member to the Council’s Board.

Executive General Manager & Head of Distributed Energy Systems for Siemens in Australia, Ross Thompson, was appointed the position.

Mr Thompson is also Head of Siemens Energy & Performance Services (EPS) business across the Pacific, which focuses on demand side and energy efficiency as well as Distributed Energy Systems.

Mr Thompson also adds the Board role to his ongoing involvement with a range of organisations such as the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), the Committee for Economic Development of Australia, the Australia Germany Chamber of Commerce, and the Australian Industry Group.

Mr Thompson is replacing Frank Herold on the Board, who is continuing his work with Siemens in Zurich.

Council President Professor, Tony Arnel, thanked Frank Herold for his service to the Board, and congratulated Ross Thompson on his appointment.

“I’m delighted to welcome Ross to the Council’s Board. He is an active industry leader, and his wealth of expertise will greatly help the Council’s mission to establish energy efficiency as the pre-eminent measure for carbon mitigation; build the market for energy efficiency products and services; and ensure that energy efficiency is implemented with excellence and accountability,” Mr Arnel said.

Council CEO, Luke Menzel, said he is looking forward to working with Mr Thompson to further the Council’s ambition to bring energy management to the fore of Australia’s energy debate.

“Energy management has an absolutely crucial role in dealing with many of Australia’s challenges over the next decade. I’m looking forward to working with Ross to make energy management a core part of Australia’s energy transition,” Mr Menzel said.
