AEMO has announced a new Chief Operations Officer to commence in August 2020.
Michael Gatt was appointed in the role, and will join AEMO at a time of unprecedented change and challenge for real time operations in the National Electricity Market (NEM).
Mr Gatt holds more than 20 years’ knowledge and experience in generator connections, infrastructure delivery, project development and emergency management.
Prior to joining AEMO, Mr Gatt has spent the last 15 years with the New South Wales and ACT electricity transmission business, TransGrid, where he most recently held the role of Executive General Manager of Works Delivery.
AEMO Managing Director and CEO, Audrey Zibelman, said, “Michael has worked at the cutting edge, solving some of the technical and engineering challenges new technologies are creating in an increasingly dynamic grid.
“He will contribute his crucial experience and perspectives that will complement AEMO’s executive leadership team.
“With Michael’s detailed understanding of the challenges and opportunities confronting the NEM, he will bring deep insights and perspectives to AEMO’s operations and will be a key contributor across AEMO’s operational priorities.”
