Endeavour Energy has appointed a new CEO, effective April 2020.
Chairman, Robert Webster, announced that Guy Chalkley, currently CEO of Western Power – a Western Australian State Government owned transmission and distribution network corporation – will be taking on the role.
“The board is delighted to welcome Guy as its new Chief Executive Officer following an extensive executive search process,” Mr Webster said.
“Guy is a highly-regarded energy industry leader and influencer, and a board member of Energy Networks Australia. He brings a wealth of international, financial and operational experience gained across a diverse range of sectors operating and residing in Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe, and North and South America.
“Guy’s outstanding leadership qualities and experience means he is ideally suited to lead Endeavour Energy as it continues its customer-centric journey, meets record growth across Greater Western Sydney, and delivers safe and reliable essential electricity services to 2.4 million people every day.
“Guy specialises in bridging the gap between operational environments and financial numbers linking strategy to business as usual. He is very people and customer focused, underpinned by a strong safety ethos.
“The board looks forward to working with Guy in achieving our ambition to be the best-performing network in Australia.”
Mr Chalkley said he was excited by the opportunity to lead Endeavour Energy and build on its success by utilising past experience to tackle today’s issues and tomorrow’s challenges.
“Endeavour Energy has a great reputation, and I look forward to continuing to shape its transformation program and helping the board and leadership team navigate the changing energy landscape to achieve great customer, safety, people and business outcomes,” Mr Chalkley said.
Guy was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Western Power in July 2016 after earlier roles including Chief Financial Officer, and senior business strategy and commercial roles. Prior to joining Western Power, Guy worked for a decade at Veolia Water and Thames Water in senior finance and regulatory roles.
He is also a Leadership WA 2013 Alumni, graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA).
Mr Webster acknowledged and thanked Endeavour’s interim CEO, Leanne Pickering, who will continue as Interim CEO until April 2020.
“Leanne is a high-calibre leader, and we’d like to thank her for her commitment and her focus in ensuring Endeavour Energy continues its company-wide transformation, delivering strong business outcomes without compromising safety or reliability following former CEO, Tony Narvaez, resignation in July 2019,” Mr Webster said.
“We’d like to acknowledge and thank Leanne for her significant efforts, and look forward to Leanne’s continued contribution to Endeavour’s success as a valued member of Endeavour’s executive leadership team.”
