Queensland Energy Minister, Dr Anthony Lynham, has thanked one of the state’s outgoing energy leaders as they move into a new role.
Merryn York is stepping down as Powerlink Chief Executive, a position which she held for eight years.
“Ms York has made a significant contribution to the energy industry in Queensland and the wider National Electricity Market,’’ Dr Lynham said.
“Starting as a graduate development engineer, she continued to build her technical skills, expertise and business knowledge across a long and successful career, including eight years at the helm of Powerlink.
“Her insights and experience as an industry expert, has been invaluable to the Queensland Government and to me personally as Energy Minister.
“I wish her the very best in the next stage of her career.’’
Powerlink Executive Manager for Strategy and Business, Kevin Kehl, will be interim Chief Executive.
Ms York will take on the position of Commissioner at the Australian Electricity Market Commission.
