CleanPeak Energy has signed an agreement to acquire Sustainable Energy Infrastructure (SEI) – one of Australia’s largest developers of sub-5MW solar and battery assets.
SEI currently operates 71MW of solar capacity across 16 sites, along with 42MW of battery energy storage systems (BESS) across 11 sites in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. This includes three solar farms integrated with BESS.
This now pairs with CleanPeak’s portfolio of more than 50 distributed generation sites across Australia including over 140MW of solar assets and 35MWh of BESS.
The SEI acquisition furthers CleanPeak’s ambition to expand its front-of-the-meter solar portfolio, with the company to leverage SEI’s geographically diverse asset base across the National Electricity Market to provide a scalable and cost-effective risk management solution.
“SEI brings together a high‑quality portfolio of distributed solar and battery assets that align perfectly with CleanPeak’s vision to develop a smarter, cleaner and more resilient renewable energy portfolio,” CleanPeak Energy chief executive officer Philip Graham said.
“By integrating SEI into our platform, we are not only expanding our national footprint but also strengthening our ability to provide low‑cost and reliable renewable energy to customers.”
It comes after global investment firm KKR committed $500 million to partner with CleanPeak in July 2025.
“Australia’s C&I (commercial and industrial) energy market is at an inflection point as corporates seek bankable pathways to better energy efficiency, reliability and affordability,” partner and head of KKR’s Climate Transition strategy for Asia, Neil Arora, said at the time.
