With the Australian Government’s national target on greenhouse gas emissions reductions of 43 per cent below 2005 levels by 2030, and ‘net zero’ by 2050, energy is climbing the corporate agenda, becoming a top priority for businesses across Australia.

Navigating the energy transition can be complex for businesses with the need to consider expectations and requirements around environmental, social, and business performance. These include climate change and carbon regulation, rising expectations about corporate environmental performance, cost of living and operation, consumer pressure for sustainable practice, and rapid innovation in energy technology.

Head of Insights and Product at Origin Zero, Mena Goyen, explains that like any big industrial shift, the energy transition is challenging for businesses. However, she says businesses can break down that journey into three key phases; establishing the foundations, initiating action, and driving long-term progress toward objectives.

To respond to this need for businesses to take responsibility for their energy journey, Origin Zero has launched EnergyZone – an online energy management tool designed to support businesses to make informed decisions about their energy practices.

“EnergyZone is designed to support businesses in each of these phases via an intuitive platform that reports on their current energy usage and provides specific recommendations to help reduce energy costs and associated emissions, helping drive businesses towards net zero and preparing them for the future of energy.”

EnergyZone is accessible for all Origin Zero customers and provides businesses with the following benefits:

Check for access to lower network charges

If your business has any Network Tariff Optimisation opportunities available, you can see a recommended tariff and estimated savings on the EnergyZone dashboard, plus a site level breakdown of recommended tariffs and estimated savings.

Unlock tailored energy recommendations
EnergyZone examines your business’s energy utilisation and provides tailored recommendations to help reduce energy costs and meet goals.

Take an action-oriented approach
EnergyZone gives businesses a direct line of sight to energy usage, consumption patterns, estimated greenhouse gas emissions and energy costs.

Energy Zone Pro:

For more comprehensive insights into energy usage for your business, Origin Zero offers an EnergyZone Pro subscription. With this subscription, business customers receive a monthly EnergyZone Insights report which provides tailored recommendations and insights aimed at optimising energy efficiency and reducing associated carbon emissions for their sites.

Origin is one of Australia’s leading energy companies with the ambition to lead the energy transition through cleaner energy and customer solutions. Origin Zero is the team within Origin that works with large business customers to help them accelerate toward zero.
