MTA Energy and Team Global Express (TGE) have extended their electricity supply agreement for a further three years, covering 83 TGE sites across Australia.
This has contributed to a landmark year for energy retailer MTA, where all clients have renewed their contracts based on the company’s wholesale market access model.
TGE, a leading logistics company, said this flexibility has saved it millions of dollars compared with traditional fixed-price contracts.
“MTA has proven to be a highly reliable and transparent partner, with their wholesale market model delivering measurable cost savings while offering the flexibility and visibility our national portfolio demands,” TGE chief operating officer Jim Kafanelis said.
MTA managing director Gareth Mann echoed this sentiment.
“Team Global Express have been a fantastic client over the past three years,” he said. “They continue to lead their sector in innovation, all while achieving meaningful savings and progressing towards ambitious ESG (environmental, social and governance) targets.”
One key project to come out of the partnership has been the ‘Depot of the Future’ located at TGE’s Bungarribee site in western Sydney.
Supported by the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), this project has seen the integration of 60 electric vehicle (EV) truck chargers and a 1MWh BESS (battery energy storage system), which has been optimised to suit wholesale pricing, local network demand and EV charging requirements.
As MTA and TGE embark on the next phase of the partnership, they are looking to integrate smart HVAC control into MTA’s technology platform, creating additional cost savings while supporting decarbonisation goals.
