A select group of companies have been chosen to partake in a Federal Government pilot aiming to fast-track project development and approvals.

The Investor Front Door initiative has tapped HAMR Energy, Ardea Resources, New Energy Transport and Murchison Green Hydrogen, which will be assigned a dedicated engagement manager to help navigate regulations and identify existing government financing options.

HAMR Energy is advancing its renewable fuel project in Victoria and South Australia, with the goal of developing two facilities to convert biomass into low-carbon fuels, while New Energy Transport’s Wilton project is set to be Australia’s largest heavy electric trucking depot.

Ardea Resources’ Kalgoorlie nickel project has the potential to produce 30,000 tonnes of nickel and 2000 tonnes of cobalt a year for downstream battery markets, while the Murchison green hydrogen project speaks for itself, promising a facility that will produce large-scale green ammonia using wind and solar.

The Federal Government believes these projects have the potential to contribute up to $20 billion in investment in Australia.

“These four project proposals are pioneering and experimental by their nature,” a federal statement read. “It is in our national interest to provide them with the tools and direction to offer them the best chance to succeed.”

The pilot will run until mid-2027.

New Energy Transport completed Australia’s first end-to-end all-electric freight delivery in late March, with a trip spanning 460km transporting a load of consumer products from Sydney to Canberra.

This saw an all-electric Windrose prime mover achieve an 84 per cent reduction in energy costs from a diesel prime mover travelling on the same route, with the trip completed on a single charge and 25 minutes faster than a diesel truck.
