Energy Networks Australia announces industry awards finalists

Energy Networks Australia has announced the finalists of its Annual Industry Awards, with 15 nominations received for the Consumer Engagement Award and 11 nominations received for the Industry Innovation Award. 

The Industry Innovation Award finalists are: 

  • Energy Queensland – Smart solar export in real-time via Dynamic Operating Envelopes
  • SA Power Networks – Advanced VPP Grid Integration Trial
  • TransGrid – Unmanned aircraft (drone) power line stringing program 
  • Western Power – Autonomous Grid modelling and solution

Judging is now underway for the Consumer Engagement Award, but Energy Networks Australia said there will be a delay to the announcement of finalists and videoconference with shortlisted applicants, as the panel has requested more time to deliberate. 

The winners of the Industry Innovation, Consumer Engagement and Industry Contribution Awards will be announced in October. 

Industry Innovation Award

This award is in recognition of leadership in the design, development and application of a ground-breaking Australian energy network initiative, technology, service or solution.

The judging panel includes:

  • Jill Cainey, General Manager Networks, Energy Networks Australia (Chair)
  • Gavin Dufty, Manager Policy and Research, St Vincent de Paul Society
  • David Feeney, EGM Networks, Australian Energy Market Commission
  • Craig Chambers, Director, Business Development & Transactions, Australian Renewable Energy Agency
  • Lillian Patterson, Director, Energy Transformation, Clean Energy Council
  • Violette Mouchaileh, Executive General Manager, Emerging Markets & Services, Australian Energy Market Operator

Consumer Engagement Award

Energy Networks Australia, in partnership with Energy Consumers Australia run the 2020 Energy Network Consumer Engagement Award. This award recognises an Australian energy network business that demonstrates outstanding leadership in consumer engagement. 

The judging panel includes:

  • Lynne Gallagher, Interim Chief Executive Officer, Energy Consumers Australia (Chair)
  • Gavin Dufty, Manager Policy and Research, St Vincent De Paul Society
  • Mark Henley, Manager Advocacy and Energy Advocate, Uniting Communities
  • Robyn Robinson, Non-Executive Director, Council on the Ageing
  • Merryn York, Commissioner, Australian Energy Market Commission
  • Jim Cox, Board Member, Australian Energy Regulator 

All 2020 nominations will be published in reports to celebrate the work being done by energy networks across the nation. The reports from last years’ nominees can be viewed here and here.
