Australia’s electric fleet transition is accelerating, and some of the country’s most ambitious depot electrification projects are setting new benchmarks for industry.

One such initiative is the $42 million Team Global Express (TGE) and Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) Depot of the Future project in Bungarribee, New South Wales, brought to life by MTA Energy and its Managing Director, Gareth Mann.

The industry leading project involved integrating 60 electric trucks into a 240-truck fleet, with MTA Energy overseeing the project development and infrastructure upgrades. This included the design, installation and commissioning of a 500kW/1MWh battery energy storage system in conjunction with JetCharge charging infrastructure and associated communication networks.

Mann brings deep expertise in the energy sector, including in the areas of depot electrification, smart-grid integration and the commercial dynamics of electric vehicle (EV) charging as an energy retailer.

Read the full details of this transformation in an interview with Mann here.

Mann will share even more insights on the Panel ‘Scaling Smart EV Charging: Building Future-Ready Infrastructure for Fleets’ at the 2nd Annual EV Infrastructure Summit, taking plane on 17–18 June 2025 in Sydney.

MTA NSW Head of Government Relations and Advocacy, Collin Jennings, will moderate the discussion, with additional panellists including:

  • Amped Consulting EV Charging Specialist, Andrea Persico
  • Club Assist Head of Product Innovation and Engineering and Renew Board Member, Justin Harding
  • STEP Advisory Principal Director, Graham McCabe

Don’t miss your opportunity to join 350+ senior leaders at the Summit to uncover the latest in fleet management, sustainable charging infrastructure, V2G strategies, and more.
