TransGrid took home top honours – Large Procurement Team of the Year and Overall Winner – at the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) Australia Supply Management Awards 2020, which were hosted as a virtual ceremony on Wednesday 29 July.

TransGrid is the first Australian Transmission Network Service Provider to receive the Overall Winner award.

Open to organisations with a turnover of $50 million and over, the Large Procurement Team of the Year award recognises teams who have made significant improvements to their performance and culture, resulting in increased effectiveness, influence, efficiencies, savings or competitive advantage.

The team was recognised for delivering a number of organisational benefits, including a 43 per cent reduction of the purchase requisition/purchase order cycle time and a 25 per cent reduction in end-to-end RFx* lead times, resulting in increased customer satisfaction.

TransGrid Head of Procurement, Siju Johny, was pleased to accept the awards.

“This recognition is testimony to the fact that we are moving in the right direction from a procurement and supply chain management perspective,” Mr Johny said.

CIPS Australasia said, “At the bottom line, the procurement function has exceeded targets, generating $4.5 million savings in 2018 and $6.1 million in 2019, and has directly contributed to business growth thanks to supplier collaboration, performance and price competitiveness.”

Respected as a benchmark for excellence, a CIPS Australasia Supply Management Award is one of the most prestigious accolades a company or individual in the procurement and supply chain profession can receive.

More information about the CIPS Australasia Supply Management Awards, including the other categories and winners, can be found on the CIPS Australia Website.

* RFx (request for x) encompasses the entire formal request process and can include request for bid (RFB), request for information (RFI), request for proposal (RFP), request for quotation (RFQ) and request for tender (RFT).
