The Federal Government has appointed a new member to the Clean Energy Regulator Board.
Katherine Vidgen has been appointed to the Board for a period of three years.
The Clean Energy Regulator is responsible for managing the Government’s emissions reductions schemes and accelerating carbon abatement in Australia.
Ms Vidgen is an accomplished lawyer, investment banking executive and non-executive director with extensive experience in the energy sector.
Ms Vidgen is currently the Global Head of Energy Principal at Macquarie Capital, where she oversees both conventional and new energy investments and is focused on helping traditional industries decarbonise their operations.
Ms Vidgen was the founding Chair of Quadrant Energy from 2015 until 2018 and is also a non-executive director of rail freight operator Aurizon.
Ms Vidgen’s appointment is expected to strengthen the high level of skills and experience of the Clean Energy Regulator’s Board and ensure the schemes the regulator administers continue to support Australia’s emissions reduction goals while strengthening existing industries and driving job creation.
