The Clean Energy Council’s Western Australia Clean Energy Forum (WACEF) 2023, powered by Goldwind, will involve discussions about the massive changes Western Australia’s energy market is currently experiencing.

Taking place on 7 February 2023 at Perth’s Pan Pacific Hotel, WACEF is an important event for the Australian energy industry and those served by it.

Among the many topics to be covered at WACEF 2023 will be the decarbonisation of mining, the extraordinary opportunity for offshore wind and green hydrogen, First Nations engagement and participation in clean energy, and the continuing evolution of rooftop solar to power homes, businesses and remote communities.

Clean Energy Chief Executive Officer, Kane Thornton, said that the integration of renewable energy in Western Australia and the speed at which it’s taking place illustrated the many options and opportunities available to other states and grids elsewhere in the world.

“Over the last five years, renewable energy generation in Western Australia has doubled to 31.5 per cent. The policy landscape has matured significantly, with the state putting its past as a laggard behind it.

“Late in 2022, the Western Australia Energy Market was operating on 81 per cent renewable energy. The majority of that was coming from rooftop solar, and that’s without a big battery or a hydropower facility. While the renewable energy landscape is evolving, the state is a fascinating example of making the best use of the clean, low-cost resources available.”
