The winners of the 2022 Clean Energy Council have been announced at the annual Australian Clean Energy Summit Gala Dinner in Sydney.

Clean Energy Council Chief Executive, Kane Thornton said that this year’s awards highlighted exceptional people and organisations.

“There has never been a more critical time for the clean energy industry to step up and deliver, and this year’s award winners have all demonstrated a willingness to think outside the box so that more communities can access and understand the benefits of clean, low-cost renewable energy,” Mr Thornton said.

“My sincere congratulations to all of our winners in what was a competitive field.”

The world’s largest independent renewable energy company, RES, took out the Innovation Award for its ‘Digital Twin’, the site-specific, weather-based simulation tool that allows RES to identify under-performance or monitoring trends at a solar farm.

The Blind Creek Solar Farm, a wonderfully unique project near Bungendore in New South Wales founded by local farmers, was presented with the Community Engagement Award for its pioneering $3.5 million benefit sharing scheme.

The NSW Renewable Energy Zone Access Standards Development project claimed the Collaboration Award, with EnergyCo, Transgrid, the Australian Energy Market Operator and the clean energy industry joining forces to finalise and publish the new Access Standards inside four months in a unique and truly collaborative effort.

This year’s Media Award winner, AAP’s Marion Raewas recognised for her work reaching Australians far and wide in telling the story of the clean energy transition, while solar industry trailblazer Geoff Stapleton from GSES took home the Outstanding Contribution to Industry Award for his leadership and passion in developing standards and training capability for the Australian solar industry over some three decades.
