Merredin Solar Farm is the top performing solar photovoltaic (PV) asset for 2021, with an average capacity factor of 29.6 per cent for the calendar year.

This announcement comes after Merredin Solar Farm was named the top performing PV asset for both November and December.

Overall, it was a good end of 2021 for utility PV assets, and December delivered a record for utility-scale PV generation, surpassing 1,000GWh in a month for the first time, to reach a total of 1,263GWh.

It was also an outstanding 2021 for utility-scale PV and wind generation in Australia.

In fact, large-scale solar PV and wind generation totalled 35,564GWh in 2021, with utility PV contributing 9,184GWh and wind 26,380GWh.

This is a 22 per cent rise on the previous year.

Merredin Solar Farm was developed by Risen Energy Australia, and the company has secured development approval to deploy up to 20MW/40MWh of battery energy storage onsite.

Archie Chen, CEO of Risen Energy Australia, mentioned that the exemplary performance of Merredin Solar Farm is a testament to Risen’s product and capabilities.

“This is just the start for us. We look forward to delivering more high-performance panels and developing similar high performing assets to the Australian market,” Mr Chen said.

Risen Energy Australia will release a new high-performance residential panel to the Australian market in Q2, and they have several projects in the development pipeline.
