ACT is now home to the country’s largest electric bus depot, with the Woden station officially opening its doors ahead of full operations.

The ACT Government celebrated the milestone as another step towards its goal of a zero-emissions bus fleet by 2040.

The new electric bus depot includes:

  • Space to shelter up to 100 electric buses
  • The latest charging technology
  • Options for future solar panel charging
  • Modern amenities for around 250 Transport Canberra staff
  • A total of 12 service bays and a workshop

Full operations will commence at the depot at the end of April 2025.

The opening of the Woden bus depot is expected to improve the efficiency and reliability of bus services in the Territory, which means more rapid services for the community.

A new bus timetable will start on Monday 28 April 2025, offering 94 additional bus services every weekday.
