The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and Innovation Bay have invited early-stage founders in the renewables, clean tech and climate tech sectors to apply to be featured at the ARENA Renewables Startup Showcase, which is returning for a fifth year in 2024.

The event aims to connect Australia’s most promising startups with Australia’s elite investment community, including leading angel investors, and the Venture Capital (VC), private equity and corporate VC community. The objective of the showcase is to create the connections needed to supercharge future growth in the sector.

The Showcase is designed to highlight up-and-coming renewable, clean tech and climate tech startups that are looking to raise capital or expand in the next two to three years. ARENA said that it gives companies a valuable opportunity to present directly to investors, position themselves to secure funding, and attract future partners.

The program takes place over a series of weeks, offering startups the chance to present at the gala event and engage with the broader Innovation Bay community of founders and investors in the lead-up to the event to get insights on how to hone a pitch and get investment ready.

Start-ups that have previously been featured at the Showcase include electrolyser technology developer and manufacturer Hysata, 5B, RayGen, MGA Thermal, Infravision, Renewable Metals, Sicona and Novalith.

ARENA CEO, Darren Miller, said that the work that startups are doing in the renewable energy and climate change sector is of critical importance if Australia is going to achieve its goal of net zero emissions.

“The ARENA Renewables Startup Showcase has become the premier event to ensure these visionary founders are connected with the right investors so that innovation in this sector continues to thrive. It’s exciting to again partner with Innovation Bay to present the Showcase and introduce the next generation of renewable technology to the world.”

Innovation Bay CEO and Co-Founder, Phaedon Stough, said, “We’re incredibly proud to continue this long-standing partnership with ARENA and I grow more inspired each year seeing the thriving innovation that is happening in the Australian renewables, climate tech and clean tech sectors.

“The ARENA Renewables Startup Showcase is the vehicle to match the best startups with the right investors. As we look to the future and the next phase of renewables, there has never been a more important time to foster the growth of this sector.”

The gala will be held in Sydney on 21 November 2024 and applications close at 11:59PM AEST on 30 September 2024.
