The 5MW Mobilong Solar Farm, located near Murray Bridge in South Australia, has received planning approval and construction is expected to start in the next few weeks.
The project, developed by Terregra Renewables, will include approximately 16,100 PV modules and two containerised inverters.
Graham Pearson, Director of Terregra Renewables’ Australian subsidiary, said, “We have been overwhelmed by the support from the Rural City of Murray Bridge council and are pleased that we can now start work.
“The Mobilong Solar Farm will generate 40 jobs during the construction phase, and we expect to start work in December 2018 and reach full completion in April 2019.
“Terregra Renewables intend to own and operate the project for its 30-year life, so from the very start we’ve been focused on being good neighbours and bringing positive benefits to the community.
“We consulted with the nearby landowners and specifically amended the site layout to address the feedback that we received.
“Now that we’re moving into the construction phase our focus turns to engaging local businesses and employing tradespeople from the surrounding region wherever possible.”
