The ACT Minister for Climate Change and Sustainability, Shane Rattenbury, has announced a third round of grants for innovative projects reducing greenhouse gas emissions undertaken by non-profit organisations and individuals.
“The first two rounds of the ACT Community Zero Emissions Grants Program were a success, with a range of projects supported which engage the community to reduce emissions through behaviour change, sustainable building techniques, innovative technology, waste reduction and sustainable living,” Mr Rattenbury said.
“The latest round of grants will again enable non-profit organisations and individuals to apply for up to $25,000 in funding with a total of $163,000 available this coming financial year. The priority areas are transport and transitioning away from gas, though any project supporting the community to transition to net zero emissions by 2045 is encouraged.
“We are fortunate to live in a community which is coming up with innovative ideas to transform Canberra into a more sustainable city across the energy, transport, building and waste sectors.
“Last year’s grants supported projects ranging from transforming a shed into an ultra-low energy building to sustainability resources targeted for communities where English is a second language. I’m looking forward to seeing the new ideas presented in the next round of proposals,” Mr Rattenbury said.
“These grants help us to work alongside our community to reduce our emissions and inspire changes in the way we think about the environmental impact of our city and our everyday behaviours.
